This weekend our team packed up the banners, the brochures, a cleaning caddy, a few pot plants and a big bowl of apples, and set up our booth at the Brisbane Disability Expo in South Brisbane. It’s one of the best chances all year to meet NDIS participants, families, carers, Support Coordinators and plan managers face to face, and to talk about something that matters every day: a clean, safe home and a yard that’s easy to enjoy.
Here’s what the expo is, what we’re sharing at our booth, the questions worth asking any cleaning or gardening provider you meet, and how to get started with us if you missed the stand.

Why Humming Home Services Exhibits at the Brisbane Disability Expo
Most people find a cleaner or gardener online or through a referral. That works, but it doesn’t let you look someone in the eye and ask how they’ll treat your home. An expo does. In a few minutes at a booth you can get a feel for a provider’s people, ask direct questions and leave with something in your hand to show your Support Coordinator.
For us, it’s also a chance to listen. Hearing directly from participants, families and coordinators helps us understand what people need from household support, and where providers too often fall short.
At the expo on Saturday? Look for the orange Humming Home Services sign. Can’t make it? Book a home visit or call 0478 534 064.

How getting started works
The screen on our stand walks through the same simple process we use with every new client:
- Contact us or fill in our online form, then book a home visit or a “get to know you” call.
- We create a service agreement together that suits your needs.
- We match you with one of our team members and schedule the first service.
- Your feedback after the first service helps make sure we get it right for you.
The values on our banner
Our banner lists four values that guide everything we do: Kindness, Safety, Integrity and Communication. At an expo, they’re easy to put to the test. Ask us anything, and see how we answer.

Questions to Ask Cleaning and Gardening Providers at a Disability Expo
An expo is a busy place, and it’s easy to walk away with a bag of brochures and no real answers. These are the questions worth asking any cleaning or gardening provider you meet, including us:
- Are you an NDIS registered provider? If your plan is Agency managed, you’ll need one. You can check on the NDIS Commission’s provider register.
- Which plan types can you invoice? Agency-managed, plan-managed or self-managed.
- Do your rates sit within NDIS price limits? For 2026–27, the limit is $60.10 per hour for house cleaning (01_020_0120_1_1) and $59.01 per hour for house or yard maintenance (01_019_0120_1_1) in standard areas. Our NDIS cleaning rates guide explains more.
- Do you service my suburb? Many providers only cover part of South East Queensland.
- Will I have the same worker each time? Consistency builds trust and saves explaining your routine again.
- How are your workers screened? Ask about NDIS Worker Screening Checks.
- How do you handle feedback or a missed visit? The answer tells you a lot about how they communicate.
- Do you have a waitlist? Some providers are full in certain areas, so it’s worth asking up front.
Comparing several providers after the expo? Our guides on how to compare home cleaning services and registered vs unregistered NDIS cleaners can help you decide.
Tips to Get the Most Out of a Disability Expo
- Know your goals before you go. Write down the supports you’re looking for, such as cleaning, gardening, therapy or equipment.
- Bring your plan details. Knowing how your plan is managed and which budgets you have makes provider conversations faster and more useful.
- Check the floor plan and program. Mark the booths and talks you don’t want to miss.
- Take photos of booths you like. It’s an easy way to remember who you spoke with.
- Ask for a contact name. Then you’re not starting from scratch when you call back.
- Bring your Support Coordinator or a support person if that helps you take it all in.
- Follow up within a week. Shortlist two or three providers while the conversations are still fresh.
- Plan for comfort. Expos are big and can be noisy, so take breaks, stay hydrated and check the venue’s accessibility information.
